Exclamation Straw poll: are you feeling moderately apprehensive about your future yet?

No? Well possibly you should be!. .. .Six months ago, I was happy, filled with ambition and more than ready to take up the challenge.. .. .Now, bloody-mindedness as much as anything is driving me forward.. .. .I feel I’m not bad at actually flying an aeroplane, social skills and vocabulary probably strong enough to put up a decent performance at an interview…but with no interview to go to, what’s the point? . .. .Aptitude testing scares me ****less enough to buy a book on the subject, feel the maths test is within reach, verbal reasoning a breeze, but anything called ‘Micropat’ increases my anxiety level tenfold.. .. .Is this a popular view or has my pub thinking got the better of me?

No I am not.. .I am still waiting to finish the JAR ATPL, only have some flying to do. Then I will apply to as many companies that I can think of where my skills are of some use to them.. .Use your nervousness to keep you prepared. As is often the case, you'll get nothing for months, then you will get 3 calls in a week.. .Hang in there and be positive. No one likes a whinger.

GS, don't you dare give in and fall by the wayside!. .. .You need a huge amount of determination to get that final goal in this business and from time to time we all slump into the pits. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back on with it.. .. .I tend to find that in moments of low morale on this long struggle to the right hand seat that disappearing off to the nearest airport does the job. Just seeing the big boys taxiing gets me back into the game again.. .. .Come on, old boy. That's the spirit!. .. .MB

monkeyboy: don't worry, the doom and gloom has dissipated as the blood/alcohol level subsides.. .. .What a self-indulgent little rant, ahy?
