Got my CPL(H) in Florida - Helicopter Adventures. It's a JAA and FAA school. The JAA chief pilot is George Bedford - well respected, ex-Bristows.
You can fly a helicopter in the U.S. for about the same price as fixed wing in the UK. You'll need about 4 weeks for a PPL or you can do an integrated CPL there in about 9-10months.
Hard to get work for new pilots though. You need 300hrs before you can become a helicopter instructor and the North Sea hiring is slow right now... you could try getting sponsorship from Bristows/Bond.
They are great fun though - and when you convert to fixed wing, all your P1 time counts towards the 200 needed for a CPL(A).
