Question Is it worth joining the IPA?

Hi,
Is it worth joining the Independent pilots association from a wannabees point of view?

They say that they keep their members up to date with the latest employment prospects, what airlines pay what and other usefull information about gaining employment. Is the cost of the membership worth it ? Any comments appreciated.

Many thanks

No, not really. They do send you info on employment prospects every two months, but it is nearly always out of date. The data information sheets they issue for different airlines are also not accurate, particularly contact names, entry procedures etc.

That is pretty much what I found. Info every two months, ussually a month or two out of date, which in this industry is pretty much useless.
Phoned up once or twice to ask advice but it wan't realy anything that I couldn't have got form this site or from contacts in the industy.
Didn't use any other part of their services so can't coment on them. Didn't renew subsription when it came up.

Devil

For such a small amount of money - I think it's well worthwhile subscribing to lend them our support as a representative group.

I must say that my experience of the IPA has been nothing other than excellent.

They have sent information on companies immediately by fax following a a telephone call and this has proved to be quite accurate.

My telephone queries have always been dealt with promptly and courteously and they have often taken the trouble to ring me back later with extra information.
