Question The Future???

Iam currently doing my PPL and am seriously thinking about going onto CPL level. I really want to fly for a living, but not at airline level.. .I have a very secure job at the moment and am having doubts whether to progress with a CPL.. .. .Could you experienced guys please help me out and give me an idea with regards to future job prospects on a Commercial level in Britain (more especially Scotland), costs involved for a CPL/IR and suitable venues.. .. .Wingman....

It's going to cost you £40000 in the UK and for the short term you have zero chance of getting a job. There is a glut of pilots. If you don't have a thousand or more hours on a 737 then you will have to be satisfied driving a checkout at Tesco's.. .. .Possibly there will be a greater requirement in a few years' time but even if there is, it is not clear whether this will be more than satisfied by English-speaking migrants from across the EEC (expanded by then ) and further afield.. .. .Only do a CPL if you are certifiably mad. But if you are, this is the channel to meet hundreds of equally loony people...

Cool

Will probably cost u about 30 - 40K upto cpl/ir - why not go into instructing if u don't want to do the airline thing. Just do ur cpl and instructor rating. Good schools in Scotland are at Perth/Dundee/Cumbernauld - don't know if the flight school at glasgow airport is still going. Good luck.. .. .ps, probably by the time you do ur cpl etc things will start to pick up.. . . . [ 18 March 2002, 05:48: Message edited by: onemorehold ]
