Holidaying in Cape Town
I'm going to Cape Town for 3 weeks on 22nd June and was hoping to maybe get a flight over the city in a private aircraft(with me at the controls) - are there any schools in the area where I could go for a 'trial lesson'?
Cheers

Try The Cape Aero Club situated at Cape town Intl. apt...They have the usual 152, 172 etc and do or did a lot of those flights for a good price.
I havent been there for a while but they are a good club with heaps of reputation.
Enjoy....Im hoping to be there around the same time on vacation and might just do the same ..for old time sake...if the weathers ok

You could try the Good Hope Flying Club at:
http://www.ghfc.org.za/
I haven't been to the club there but I have seen good reports about it. Have a look at their web site.
Also consider flying from the airfield at Stellenbosch; a very beautiful location with a lovely relaxed and friendly feel. You should have no difficulty in booking up a trip from there (try international directory enquiries, and phone them to confirm the position).
I have flown around the Cape and Table Mountain (taking in Robben Island) in a 172. Fantastic! Take your camera!!

As has been said, try the Good Hope Flying Club at Cape Town International, they're an excellent outfit with a great bunch of instructors - I did some hour building there last year.
They've got a couple of PA28s, a C172RG and an Aztec (plus some traumahawks, but you won't be wanting them for sightseeing :-) A 2.5 hours flight will take you round the Cape, through the City Bowl, over Stellenbosch and possibly up to the Langebaan lagoons, all for about £35ph. If the conditions are right (high pressure, low wind) you can even go over the top of Table Mountain.
If you're a gang of people, the Aztec will happily seat 5 (plus pilot) for about £100ph.
Give my trusty PA28 ZS-KBK a pat for me

Also consider the Stellenbosch flying club...
Include the winelands and surrounding mountains in your flying trip.
Details are on www.aeropages.co.za somewhere.
Good luck
