Post Headsets

Hi there everyone, I want to buy a pair of decent headsets which will offer good ear protection. Any suggestions on what one should purchase?

Thanks Chunks

Peltor 8006 can't fault them.

My set have survived repeated solo flights across the ops room using various corners, tables etc to get them into my flight bag.

They are very light and i have never been bothered with sore ears etc. The only thing against them is there white but i am now coming round to think this is an advantage. They don't heat up when you chuck them up next to the canopy while sorting your life out before and after a flight.

Got some Peltor 8006's myself. Cracking headset. Check www.cloudtop.co.uk - they did have them there for £140 inc VAT and P+P, and you won't find anything better for that kind of money. I know people who've paid closer to 180 for 8006's in the past.

Ah, couldn't last forever. Just tested my cloudtop link at it turns out they've closed down their site. Might still get them on the phone though.

Question

I got myself a pair of David Clark H10-13.4 with gel earseals from Headset Services, tel 01273 234 181. They also sell Peltor, Sennheiser and other headset makes. If you give them a call they can advise you on which headset will be best for you. I was wearing the David Clark headset once for three hours in one go and found them very comfortable and I didn't have any problems with wearing glasses.

If you have just started training for your licence you might also have to consider what type of headsets your instructor uses. It seems that some headsets don't work very well together with other headset types.

Lightspeed 15XLs. Very comfortable with ANR for about $300 USD.

Well I have a pair of DC 13.4's but all last year I used the company Peltors.

I think the DC's are more comfortable and had better mics that don't pick up wind rush so easily.

I recommend DC 13.4's I have over 1,500hrs in mine and they are still as good as new.
