I feel that what Go-Around is saying is that the representation could come from the Wannabee collective which pay BALPA as well. What would be the problem with that? Most of us would probably happily give up his/her time for this in one way or another and then just have the admin costs covered by the fees. As you rightly point out - the unions have to keep the fee payers, i.e. wannabees happy. Would working for them whilst they were unemployed not help ensure they would stay with BALPA in the future as opposed to going with IPA? If I felt I had got a job through BALPA then surely I would be more likely to stay and contribute to them as opposed to anyone else? Perhaps I am in the minority but that would indeed be a sad day!

now thats better !

I was thinking that my last post might shake things up a bit and I was seing the trendy "it must be some one elses fault and the establishment should sort it out" type of attitude creeping in.

These trendy attitudes that try to avoid personal responsibility have no place in aviation , if you lot want to command a jet airliner you better get the message that its all about taking responsibility for your actions (or lack of them ) and it is you alone that have to do that , if you cant do that then you are not fit to be on the flight deck.

I am much encouraged that some of you are prepaired to get involved in a bit of self help , this is the sort of thing that my BALPA subs should help you to do.

So as some of us seem to be keen to get something going on this - perhaps we should approach BALPA on this subject and see what kind of reply we get to this?

Can A and C suggest someone we might write to in particular at BALPA whom might have some sympathy with what we are trying to do?

Cheers

If you are BALPA members, I should try logging on to the BALPA website at www.balpa.org and have a look round. I dare say you'll find ways to contact the committee who, I would hope, will take your offer seriously.

It would be good to think that a thread here on Wannabes had resulted in some action at BALPA HQ! So good on you, and best of luck.

I'm glad that one of my posts may have spurned a bit of action from us wannabes.
Maybe this is just the beginning....
How can I help?
