Hi to the world, decided to register for pprune and speak to you all as I feel I can fit amongst you guys and gals now having done my first solo today. It was wicked and the adrenaline is still pumping but it didn,t half feel weird being up there all alone. Mega fun, mega scary (well sort of) but worth the wait(almost 8 hours on circuits). So how was yours?

Well done Cessna boy.
Next step solo nav.
Why is it that in the UK the first solo consists of 1 circuit to land whereas in the states it consists of 3 circuits( well it did when I done mine there ).All that build up doing numerous t & g's with your instructor and for what - 5 minutes on your own. Do you think thats long enough for your first solo or do you think that 3 circuits ( like the FAA system )would be better.
Trouble is where I used to instruct in the UK you would send your student on solo circuits at a relatively quiet period ( in terms of other traffic) then all of a sudden everyman and his dog would join the circuit.Like a scene out of Pearl Harbour with all these kamikaze pilots going in all directions. And it was a case of shutting my eyes and thinking "its all up to you now pal."
But what a good learning process for them- well thats what I thought?????

No solo yet, but went up to do some stalls in a glider today. Instructor asked me to do one, which I thought I did quite well. Then he said "That's not a stall, I'll show you what a real stall is", before bringing the nose vertigal before it dropped. I could've swore the thing actually went upside-down at the bottom! Thank god I took the air-sickness tablet he'd warned me to take beforehand, I can see why.
Anyway, good luck with the lessons,
A very pale, almost green looking Yo!
