Question Pooleys CRP-1 vrs Jeppesen Aluminium Flight Computer

Hi all,

I'm currently training for my PPL and was wondering if some of you can tell me which Flight Computer you think I should get; The CRP-1 or the Jeppesen one?

Any opinions or advice as to which one would be the best to get, would be great.

Thanks,
All the best,

S105

I have the CRP-5 and find it excellent. Clear simple and robust, the jeppy' one i thought had an awful lot crammed onto it, but it can do more (or so i am told).

Shamrock,

If you are considering going commercial I would go straight in with the CRP5 and save yourself money in the long run!

Thanks for the advice eagerbeaver and PFO.

Iam hoping to become a commercial pilot down the road; and think your right about getting the CRP-5 now PFO.

Thanks again,
Best wishes,

If you think you're going commercial at some point, don't bother about the CRP-1, go straight for the CRP-5; I bought the CRP-1 for c.£39 and then had to buy the CRP-5 for another c.£71.00. I could have saved the £39.00

I've had a Jeppeson for years and had no problems. All it misses from the CRP-5 is the mach compression conversion chart. Managed to get a photocopy of a similar chart which was tpared to the back for the ATPL's. No probs from the CAA.

Jepp costs alot less too!!

Now that I'm in the RHS of a TP the only time I use the Whizz Wheel is to convert Knots to mph for the pax.
