COMAIR aviation academy
I ´ve heard that this academy offers a JAA profesional pilot course and that there is a phase in the training in which you are paid as flight instructor and you can fly for free in delta airlines.
In this instructor Module how many hours does people usually do??
Is real this offer or is only marketing?
Some one have gone to Comair .what do you think about it??
The license isued by an american FTO is valid in all JAA member states or is only valid in UK ??
Thanks to all of you from Spain!!!

JAA Approval
In addition to JmDt's questions, I am also looking at going to COMAIR later this year but am confused with their JAA approval!!
They claim to be JAA approved, but on the CAA website there is a document that lists all JAA/CAA approved outfits, and COMAIR are not listed there!! - Answers on a postcard......., Has anyone ACTUALLY had a JAA licence ISSUED from a course completed at COMAIR?
Question number 2.
Is there any additional training to be carried out in the UK to officially complete the courses offered in the USA, i.e. CPL skills test, multi rating, instructor rating???
Thanx In Advance

comair details
I have spoken to the Admissions and a Flight instructor from Comair.
The deal is if and when you obtain your Flight Instructors rating (after all the other 6 modules, PPL, CPL, ATPL e. c .t. 11 months approx. ) From them, there is a 98 % chance of employment.
You then can build up to 900hr of flight time instructing $10 an hr, possible $900 dollar a month, which will cover living expenses.
You can do this for approx. 12 months as long as you get your JI visa.
You then start your MIR in the states then you go to the UK to finish of your MIR with Atlantic Flight training. You also do your MCC
Comair use Atlantic to piggyback off to issue their JAA licence.
I still have to confirm if i require a FAA licence to fly in states, there brochure does not mention it, but i recon you would need it to fly or else you can fly using cover from your instructors licence, AerLingus cadets did this in USA before. Comair do all the skill and written tests in the states apart from MIR, MCC. The brochures do not include cost for any notes, tests apart from PPL, headset, and medical.
I would prefer to do the FI rating last so that i can get the CV out faster, then return and build the hours.
I am from IRL so it would be cheaper than any UK/ESP school (€40000 cheaper than OAT) and you get more hrs, fly from 25th busiest airport in world with an Airline owned by Delta that trains pilots for Airlines.
I am travelling there in February to check it out (they will also give you back up to$500 for your visiting airfare if you enrol with them), so if you require any specific info mail me or if anyone knows anything mail me please.
Please excuse grammar and spelling

Hi JmDt
No way is 25 too old to begin professional lessons! At least I hope it aint cos I'm 25 and have been trying to get motivated to start my ATPLs for two years now.
I'm going to gear up to do my IMC this year in 'sunny' Northern Ireland (Hi Alec...it always seems sunnier in Dublin!) Probably my night rating too. That'll get me back in the groove for learning. Hopefully by next year, I'll have enough saved that with a sodding huge loan I can go all out and get that frozen ATPL...
Good luck lads.

COMAIR AVIATION ACADEMY
I am currnetly at Comair Academy in Florida. I have completed my PPL (The FAA PPL is issued as part of the JAA training so that you are rated to fly in the USA hours building). I am starting my ATPL ground school on Jan 20th and have already had all the study information through to me.
The flying here has been great. I managed to get my PPL and FAA PPL done in 7 eeks with my night included. During the course the JAA groundnotes and lectures were given included in the total course cost. But, i did need to buy a headset, some FAA publications coming to approaximately $100, and i needed a JAA logbook and a CRP 5 which they have here, but i would suggest getting it before you arrive for sake of ease.
If any of you have more questions please feel free to post, i will be more than happy to answer them, as i am one very impressed, soon to be employed (hopefully) pilot.

Hi freeborn 1,
I have a single engine FAA/CAA PPL/IR and 500 hrs total time (220 fw, 280 helicopter).
Could you tell me how much I would pay for a JAA fATPL at Comair? Considering my previous experience: (RAF helicopter pilot).
Any replies welcome.
Cheers

I attended Comair on the FAA J-1 visa programme. I completed phase 1 of their training (IR, CPL, CFI) but chose not to do phase 2 (multi, CFII), for good reason. I would be happy to explain why, it's worth messaging me.
