Arrow Perf. A problems

Having bombed Perf.A on my first attempt I'm now being told there are no places available to re-sit. This could present a problem as the last sitting is in June.
I have to confess that I only asked for a place in May/June as I had a pre-arranged holiday at the end of April. The CAA. however did offer me a place in Glasgow. That in itself is is crazy. I have to travel over 1000 miles return to another country to sit a 2 hour paper.
The CAA. say we can sit the JAR exam instead. Great, I've just spent a fortune on courses to learn Perf. A. One fail and I have to do something which Im sure will be entirely different. This is my last hoop (I have a job offer) and its getting smaller all the time.

What I don't understand is that they are hell bent on changing the system without offering any help for the inconvenience and not to mention the expense of all the reg changes.

I wish some one would take them to task.

Sorry, but a pet hate of mine.

Thumbs down

You poor soul, a job offer and you can't make it to Glasgow to take Perf A. It may be a foreign country but we have connections to other countries by air from here. Amazing!
So you can guess what the company will say to you if you don't make the trip.......

There was a reason I couldn't make it to Glasgow which had nothing to do with with distance, purely timing. The point is I don't think we should have to. Sorry you missed the point??

Live up past edinburgh, had to travel all the way down to oxford to sit final 2 JAR exams, (total 3hrs) because Glasgow is used for the CAA lot! students travelling up from Glocester and the like. Welcome to laalaa land. Still at least I didn't have to go near glasgow

for what its worth, the JAA Perf was alot simpler than the CAA, mostly Principles of Flight. the book work is real monkey stuff, it covers most Perf Cats aswell.

I hope someone from the CAA is reading this. Given the relatively small number of people who are affected in this way, surely if the CAA got themselves sorted out they could organise an extra couple of places at a nearer venue. After all, it is the aviation authorities who are imposing deadlines on pilots, so the onus should be on them to accomodate people wishing to meet those deadlines. But then, that would involve treating its customers in a flexible way.
