Question Headsets

As my training roll`s on I think its high time I buy my own headset. I have spoken to a few pilots and they are pointing me towards the David Clark H10-60.
I am happy to go along with this set as I currently use it/borrow and it seems OK.
Does anyone know of any better "reasonably priced" headset ? If not please respond if you can find it cheaper than £289.
Cheers !

10-60 are a bit on the heavy side.. would rather recommend 10-13.4 or 20-10..

Check out davidclark.com for more info on each.

try out a set of peltors before you buy.

8006 are great if you flying light's the noise reduction is alot better and they are British made.

Have to agree with Mad Jock. Have used David Clarks and I dont think that they are as good as everybody makes out. The Peltors are light weight (Important in my work) cheaper and they bounce. DC's also have the porblem that they can have problems with other headsets.

PS does anybody know where is the Pielander

Thanks all,
I can try the Peltor 8006 on my next lesson, do they come in any different colours other than white (they look ok now but what will they be like after a few hundred hours) ?

Cool

Well I reckon you're paying about 100 quid for the name when you buy a set of David Clarks - they are good, but are they 100 quid better than say Avcomm AC900's. I think not.
I'd happily recommend the Avcomm AC900 to anyone so consider them recommended!
They also have a Push To Talk which the David Clarks don't. This saves on an intercomm box if your a/c has a handheld mic.

Ya pays ya money, ya takes ya choice!

smithy.

After 120hours mine are still white. The industrial ear defenders don't suffer so i don't think the 8006 will either.

Just noticed 45 quid of at transpilot at the moment.

Don't forget that there are very good second-hand headsets out there. My DC H10-40s were a very reasonable price, are built to last for ever, and despite being a bit heavy I find them very comfortable.
