Question When should I start to apply?

I start my Instrument rating in October which should be the last piece of the jigsaw for the award of my CPL.
My question is, is it worth applying to the airlines before I have the IR? Or do they expect you to be fully qualified before you even apply.
I have been given conflicting advice on the subject and would appreciate a steer from somebody who may be familiar with recruiting policies.

Good question. I applyed about 1 month before my IRT. However be very careful as i sent out some updated CV's recently and got phoned for an interview 1 week later. If that happened to you you will be 'stuffed'!

Bare in mind it's my 2nd interview in 3 years of applying the chance is fairly remote.

You would be better of waiting in case of delays etc.

good luck with your IR

My advice would be to start applying straight away, if only to go through the process of getting a mail list up, receiving some replies and then amending the list to have the correct person addressed once you are qualified. Next time you write you can then refer to your previous letter and if no response comes you can then have an excuse to phone them. Keep perservering, the best advice I had was to make a one page completely to the point CV with a picture on it aswell, and send it repetedly to all airlines. Good Luck
