Question Just started Distance learning ATPL's with Bristol?

I've just signed up with Bristol for the ATPL(H) distance learning course and the shiny folders arrived earlier today.
I appreciate that most here are fixed wing but the majority of the content appears identical.
Is anyone who's also just starting interested in corresponding whilst we all work through the modules?? and if any interested are local to Sussex, linking up for the eventual brush up courses re travel etc?

I started my Bristol ATPL (A) in November. How fast do you intend to do the course?

I have been thinking of doing the same because there is no JAR approved flight school providing helicopter training here in Iceland. I have no information about any of those flight schools who offer distance learning so it would be great if any of you could give me some info on them?

Hi all !
re ATPL groundschool, i had just started on module one with PPSC, when they folded ! no letter, no e-mail, nothing ! gutted ! lost hundreds, and am stuck with useless manuals ! was told on pprune that Bristol was taking on PPSC's students but only till end of december, had some v helpful e-mails from a lady at Bristol, and am now trying to claim back the money from Barclaycard so i can get on with another course, Mr whittingham, if you are reading this your establishment was v highly reccomended by a certain Mr P Carlton, my flying instructor, i am intending to do the ATPL exams by distance learning while still holding down a demanding job and also being on call as a Retained Firefighter ! so its not going to be a 6 month job !! would very much like your feedback/advice on my situation as i have every intention of using Bristol Groundschool.

happy landings guys.

Hiya people

Just to add my recommendation for Bristol - it was my erstwhile employer, SFT's policy to recommend them for distance learning, and I have seen their notes which are very good. I have met Alex, and liked him. I have read his replies here and he is very competent (I taught the same subject!)

If any of you happen to need any private tuition assistance that Bristol cannot provide during the home-study section, feel free to email me at the address in my profile. I taught General Navigation and some Radio Navigation at SFT, with bits of other subjects. Privately I have taught other subjects. I passed all the JAA exams in 2000, and my former boss the CGI at the now-dormant SFT is willing to recommend me for tuition of any subject, and former/current pupils will support that recommendation. I have worked with people working towards Bristol's course.

Oh - and Quidam I have some rotary time, so might even be able to help with that side or at least chat about real flying

Sorry, moderators, for adverising but since SFT went into administration I need all the work I can get!

I know Bristol will be very helpful, but if you have any general queries or require reassurance (SASKATOON!) or an independent opinion, then again feel free to email me. I have been though it all, not long ago - and I survived!

I've just completed Frame 1 Module 1 of Bristols ATPL Distance course.. I am a PPL with not too many hours, and have had a good look through the books (which are very well put together) and am loving it, it is so much easier to learn a subject you love.

The staff at Bristol have been great and I can't wait to meet them all at the brush up session.

I am sure it is up hill from here and look forwards to every minute of it.

FLYING RULES!!!

Good luck to all who are in the same boat as myself and maybe we will meet at the brush ups too.
