Red face BA CitiExpress

Chaps and chapesses,

Got home to a PFO from the above. Suffice to say that I'm more that a tad peed off as I'd put in an awfull lot of effort into the application form, and given that it's taken two months to process I was getting more optimistic by the day.

I'm not going to let this get to me, but what I would like to know is what grounds I got PFO'd, so I know what I should watch out for next time, or even if it's worth re applying in 12 months time.

I've around 1400 TT, fATPL, ME IR, MCC etc, of the more mature set (early 40's), married 2 kids and a profesional backround in IT. My hours and qualifications have been built up over a number of years, not through instructing.

Anyone care to speculate? If I call them up, is there any chance that they would tell me?

Ah well, time to embark on one of those stress reducing measures and contemplate other things....

Splat,

Chin up mate. It might be worth doing what I was too scared to do with Brittannia last year, and phone them up for feedback.

Cheers!

Thanks foggy,

Rest assured my chin is up. I want to learn from this, not get sucked down by it.

Went to see the new Bond film last night, some rather imaginative flying scenes, totaly unrealistic mind you. Oh, and no alcohol last night either!

I've had a PM with a tip I intend to follow up.

See you in the sim next Wed

i got the dear john the first time, got another form in the post about 10 months later out of the blue, sent it back and has been accepted, but heard nothing since (about 6 weeks now)
You gotta keep chipping away at these things all the time, its tough, i have been looking for a job for nearly 16 months now and its very demoralising. Jobs tebd to come out the blue for guys like us, u never know.
Keep smiling it aint the end of the world

eagerbeaver,

Not demoralised at all, just want to learn from it, but without knowing why, that's not possible.

Crikey, with the amout of PFO's one gets applying for jobs you soon develop a proverbial thick skin, although I agree, it does at time get to one. Big picture time when that happens.

Good luck with the application.

Regards

Splat , like eagerbeaver I too got a rejection last year and so had all the other guys on my interview day, just a few weeks back.

Very difficult to get any feedback from HR in general but knowing having worked for BA in the past, I think it is very important to fill the application with the customer, The BA brand in mind.

eagerbeaver , I think BACE has more or less completed its recruitment for now and that's why it takes longer before you get a reply. Spoke to HR not long ago regarding sim dates and the lady said the choice was now limited because they will be the last one for a little while.

Things can change quickly though (and don't we know it!?!?)

I agree with the comment about emphasising the customer in your application forms. Having had experience with BA i can tell you they love you to have a customer focused ethos, after all BA see you as a kind of resource manager, and want you to save them money and customer service is one of the only things left in the business that can differentiate your product. You cannot be too narrow minded in this game and once in a while one has to look at the big picture...that is airlines are not in business to replace your old flying club, but to keep the city and the shareholders happy by making money, and the pilot on the frontline plays a big part in this.

that P/T job at Tesco might have been more useful than you think.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll bear in mind all the customer focused comments, and anyone thinking of applying take note.
