$66,000 Is this above or below average?
Friends,
I have over the last couple of days contacted several JAA flight schools with the view to taking up a full time training course. The first to reply was Western Michigan University College of Aviation (USA) with a price of $66,000 for a JAA FROZEN ATPL, is this price an industry average or way over the top??? hopefully the latter of the two.
Any help in this area would be more than appreciated.

Make sure you are comparing like for like. check what is included or not at each establishment, think about accommodation, CAA fees, groundschool fees, booksetc etc etc it does go on and on and on.
Also find out availability of course dates, aircraft, instructors. Best to find students/ex students to talk to as the schools will always give you what you want to hear. Then look at when they want the money - if they are asking for it all up front the quote will be a lot cheaper, but be vary wary about parting with your greenbacks before you have received anything. So, just to make you look at the right things when comparing, remember it is a minefield out there so get as many independent opinions of the school as you can before choosing.
Good luck, and yes it is very expensive, all in I have spent over UK£60k!

I dont know to much about the price but dont give eny flying outfit the money "upfront" as some have gone bust the day after guys have parted with large sums of money.
If they require money first to give a discount then pay with a credit card as this will protect your cash.
The above advice is not a dig at eny particular trainning outfit just a tip to help you C.Y.A.
