From what I have heard from schools and Wannabies, is the schools are starting fill up again.

Schools that had suspended training are starting up again. This the likes of West Michigan University.

BAE in Jerez where I'll be going in Feb, is filling every course!]

If you are looking to train. Go for it!

BAE Jerez is filling it's courses with Khalifa Airways cadets since the UK stopped issuing visas. Half if not more than half the base is now Algerian. Maybe one self sponsored course every 2-3 months coming here at the moment.

Interesting piece in last weeks Flight International (p24) . Tony Petteford of Oxford Aviation Training is quoted as saying " This is the first time we have had to go out & stimulate interest in taking up piloting as a career , " . It continues along the lines of fewer young people being attracted to flying .

I think it's also worth noting that this is also the first time for some years that there has been so little in the way of airline sponsorship . Perhaps he meant that fewer young people are attracted to the idea of paying to become a pilot & right now , nobody else will ?

Unhappy Not suprised

Is anyone suprised that flight training orgs are having to go out and stimulate interest????
I'm not.
To be interested at the moment it has to be a passion. And there arent many people prepared to almost bankrupt themselves for a slight chance they may get the RH seat in a 737!!

Unfortunately for me I am stupid and so will pursue my ATPL.
