Talking Off to Florida!!!

Anyone else off to OFT in late November, I just got my Visa through from them they tell me I am one of the first on the new electronic facility, I was getting a bit worried because I've been there before and didn't want to go anywhere else, any how all is sorted now so I hope to see some of you in the pub. I'm looking to do a Bahamas trip in one of the twins if anyone else is up for it??

Hey there D.W.,

I was wondering what visa OFT issued? I spoke to them recently, when I was researching schools and they did not have a visa to offer. I just want to make sure I do not get suckered and make a mistake like I almost did with IFTA.

Maybe I am looking too far into this, but I did see that you just made your PPRuNe account today on 30th October 2002 at 09:44. The other thing I do not understand is you are posting like you are a long time poster on PPRuNe and your only posts were in the threads about flying in florida, all saying the same thing.

Fox and hounds, Icon downtown, Old town big swingy thing, beltz, rentacar for $30, pool at the Sheraton, and work your way thru every restaurant on the192 and you'll see why it beats the pants off PPLing in the good ol' UK. And then you gotta come back here, thats the hard part. Enjoy but be prepared to stick yer neck out for decent flight time towards the end of the course, guaranteed your AC will nedd a 100hr!

TTF,

Obviously you have some axe to grind, I was under the impression that this site was for people in my position, however having read through lots of other postings it appears that various flight schools are using PPrune to advertise and bash each other, I didn't think that was the purpose... i'm glad to say I have been issued my Visa paperwork through OFT for an M1 and I intend to go back and have a bl**dy good time. i'm sorry if this offends you in some way. Please don't reply to my email if you intend to be generally obnoxious I've never met you and already I don't like you, whichever flight school you are connected with I hope I never have the missfortune to visit.

Hope to see all normal people in the Fox in few weeks.

Smile

Even though I moaned about OFT earlier this year, in hindsight I had a pretty good time. Certainly remember the long walk down 192 and then some more to get to flight school every day! Some good instructors and mostly very friendly staff. Regards to Huw, Giles, Jessica et al.

You'll have a good time DW!

Delta....

Ouch!

Being new to the forum and already becoming such a cinic does make one wonder. You do seem a dab hand at this already! When I read the TTT post I did not feel he was bashing you or another school, but trying not to get caught up in all the gaseous exchanges that he seems to have been in. Looks like he was looking out for you more than anyone and giving you advice! But then, that is my humble opinion.

Back to the biz, it is great to see that another school has gone through the process to offer legal training to us Europeans. Competition is good and so is legal training. Let's hope more schools get their ducks in a row so that fewer students are put at risk in all the "hearsay" that is going about!

DeltaWhisky,

Wow, I did not know I sounded like all that. I am sorry I tried to look out for you.

I checked my email and did not get your email yet. I will keep a lookout for it.

I do have one question for you. If OFT just gained M-1 approval and announced it yesterday, how can you already have an M-1 visa? Last I read on PPRuNe it was taking people about 10 working days from the time they submitted their paperwork to the U.S. Embassy till they got it back. That does not include the time for OFT to fill out the forums and mail them to you. If OFT has found a way to get same day service on visas, it sounds like a great deal!

Cheers,

TTF

I agree with crosswinds, I was at OFT in the summer. Great people and all that, but I dont know if I was just unlucky, but I was plagued with double bookings, booked on wrong aircraft type, and maintenance problems. and all within 2 weeks. I was only hour building, but unfortunely it put me off going back there, I will be trying another school/club next time.

Good luck anyway what ever.
