become a pilot book...and the rest.
Anyone bought that becomeapilot (.co.uk) book?
It's nearly always in the back pages of a few Flight mags, it's pretty vague on the advert and the website asks for the £9.95 or wotever is is. Anygood?
And has anyone gone thru avasp.com, pilotassist? and qualified yet? anygood?

I would recommend 'A guide to getting a commercial pilots licence' by Clive Hughes.
I was recommended it to me by the major airlines.
It can be ordered over the internet from transair or direct from clive hughes publishing. the website can be found on search engines.
All the best

Dont Bother!
I would not bother with the Become a Pilot Book. Its a money spinner. It is good on motivation etc.. but if you need a book for that why bother spending ££££'s on a CPL anyway.
My advice would be not to buy any book at all but ask flying schools and use this forum. No-one here will ever get bored of people asking for help. Thats what its here for. PLUS, we give it for free.

I *really* should finish off the half started project of writing my own guide.
I'd say Zero2FirstOfficer and Clive Hughes are about level pegging in their usefulness. Buying a couple of guide books is well worth it considering the financial scale of the project you are contemplating.
It *never* ceases to amaze me how some people do the whole OATS thing without ever buying a guide, talking to an actual airline pilot or appearing on this forum.
Research and planning and pessimism are the three key elements I would urge any Wannabe to arm themselves with. Oh, and a healthy dose of luck is pretty useful as well.

Well I might just have to stand out from the crowd......
I bought the book about a year before I stopped work and started working!!!!
I thought it was excellent value for money, and by that I mean although I cant prove how much money it saved me in bad decisions but I can safetly say that it was a damn sight more than the cover price!
I agree with Soggy in that it is big on motivation but when you think about all the things that need considering you NEED a plan, you NEED to be motivated and you NEED to know where the pitfalls are likely to be.
The "stuff"that comes afterwards I'm not too sure about, but 02FO to me was a bargain!
Thats my 2 penneth
