Post PPSC Distance Learning Rescue Package

Bristol Groundschool now have approval from the CAA to action a rescue package for PPSC distance learning students. This should allow people to complete the module they are currently studying using their old PPSC notes and at either minimal or no extra cost.

The outline plan is this:

ATPL (A) Distance Learning Phase

Bristol will provide support up to the end of December to distance learning students that have already started their courses with PPSC. We should be able to provide at least the same level of service that you are used to including dealing with telephone, fax and e-mail queries and marking the progress tests.

ATPL (A) Distance Learning Classroom Phase

Our Module 1 is similar to the PPSC Module 1 except we do not include either Radio Navigation or Law. In the short term we will cater for PPSC Module 1 students by providing ‘add on’ tuition for these two subjects while our students are doing Instruments and Flight Planning classes. The next Module 1 course runs from August the 20th to 31st.

A Module 2 course specifically designed to match the PPSC Module will be run from September 17th to the 28th for the October exams.

In the medium term our classroom phase will be redesigned to cater for PPSC Module 1 and 2 students as well as our own.

PPL(IR), CPL and Military Bridging Package Distance Learning

We do not, unfortunately, have the resources to support these PPSC courses without adversely affecting the service for our own students.

Approval

The CAA has approved us to complete the distance learning package as described and have promised to be as flexible as they can. They will not be able to adjust the exam rules or allow more sittings than the maximum of six.

The CAA has made arrangements for the PPSC training records to be secured and they will be transferred to new training providers on request.

Charges

The ATPL distance learning support will be provided free of charge mostly as a service to the industry. It is going to cost us, though, so if you get any money back from the credit card companies we will accept donations on an honesty basis.

PPSC charged more for the distance learning element than we do and less for the classroom phase. Our price for the classroom phase for each module is £475 but we will honour any unrefunded deposits you paid to PPSC in this respect up to £150. You don’t have to come to us for the classroom phase, you can go elsewhere if you want, but you will have to do it somewhere.

What to do

To transfer the distance learning course contact us on the numbers below with your name, address and telephone number. The training records will be transferred to us so we can record your progress during the distance learning phase and sign you off for the exams when the courses are completed.

The contact details below are also correct for correspondence. The owners of PPSC have not yet agreed to release the answers to the progress tests which means we have to work them all out. It will take a week or so to get up to speed so please hold off with the progress tests in the first few days unless your exam dates are close.

Much respect to Bristol GS and all of the team there!!

Thanks Alex, I know there are many out there who will be very grateful for your efforts. Also those of SFT and PAT who've offered to help out in various ways as well. It's very gratifying to see the industry pulling together at this time, and wonderful to see that Pprune brings it all together. I earnestly hope that all those affected by PPSC's demise, students and instructors, will very soon be back in the swim.

Thank you to all the ex PPSC instructors and students who offered and provided help on this project. Module 1 is now up and running but we still need answers and workings to some Assessed Tests in Module 2. If anyone has recently finished PPSC Module 2 distance learning and would be willing to help please call 01275 474701 and talk to Jacqueline.
