Grrr URGENT INFO NEEDED- Granada or Phoenix

Hi all,

I’m a student with CAE MPL, finished with ground school awaiting Core phase. We have been given a choice between Phoenix and Granada, with the information that Granada might take as long as June/July to start and take 7-8 months, or we take Phoenix, start in May and it would take the quoted 6 months.

It is hard to trust what they’ve been telling us so if anyone is currently training in either location could you please share the real situation there?

Do they have enough operational aircraft, do they have instructors, are you on track or delayed already? Any answers to those questions or any other relevant information would be hugely appreciated

For any students still in ground school or considering CAE here’s been our journey so far:
From the start we were told we would be going to Phoenix
In November/December they told us we would be changing to Granada, and the last group had finished in 4 months instead of 6
We finished our last class in December
We have been awaiting confirmation for our core phase since then. It has taken them until today (2.5 months after finishing ground school) for them to tell us of significant delays in Granada and they have given us the choice of the two locations, and that we still won’t be going for at least another 2 months

Your tolerance of heat may be a factor if you consider the Phoenix area. You would be about 6 months out of phase with the nice flying weather if you came in May.

I can't comment on the CAE operation although I have been called "Oxford" in error by several controllers.

Hi mate, sorry to hear that you’ve been messed about so much.

I’m in ground school at CAE now on AP471 and both AP469 and AP470 have been told where they are going with a fair bit of notice, any idea why you were not?

Presumably you’re also tagged to EZY?

To be honest...flip a coin!
Summer is out of season for tourists so a lot cheaper accommodation in Phoenix.
They alternate between Phoenix and Grenada which is an utter shambles... don't decide based on past performance!

I haven't got time to post a full update - but there hasn't been a major improvment yet, and we're still expected to be finished late.
I'll try and add more detail at some point soon.

Update from an Instructor at CAE in Phoenix

Hi all, I'm an instructor for the Core Phase located at CAE Phoenix. There has obviously been a lot of bad history of the delays at this location for quite some time. That was largely due to management not hiring and training enough instructors to fly as often as Easyjet had required. Since Summer of 2025, things have been rapidly changing. We have added 19 new instructors since about August of 2025. CAE has officially gotten EasyJet cadets out on time for the first time in I'm not even sure how long.

To put in perspective - I began a group of 3 EasyJet EASA cadets in December 2025. They finished Core 1 in 4 weeks, Core 2 in 12, and Core 3 in 1 week. They even have enough time to explore the US for about 2 weeks before they fly back home to Europe. As an example to show how fast you can go if the timing is good - a student that began in the first week of March 2026 is on pace to finish in the first week July 2026! The rest of his class had a 4 week delay due to administrative issues, but is still forecast to complete the last training flight the last week of August 2026, which is still ahead of the 7 months planned per the Training Manual.

Things have changed quite a bit around here, with people in place who seem to truly care about making positive change for students.

The instructor cadre have been instructed to minimize all landings at KFFZ. All of the programs on campus were okay passing the landing fees onto the students EXCEPT EasyJet. So practically this means there will only be 1 landing at KFFZ for each mission. Landing practice and student traffic pattern solos will be elsewhere, likely at KCHD in nearby Chandler, AZ.
