UK training, post ATPL’s- how would you do it?

Hi!

I have just started Module 3 of the relentless task of ATPL studies, with the aim of completing these before April/May 2026. I then plan on taking a few months off before kicking off with the ‘hands on’ element of training.

Whilst a few years ago, the default route would’ve been to complete the CPL -> ME/IR -> MCC/JOC, a few have recommended gaining a CB-IR next, before then doing the CPL and the proper MEIR, so to speak.

Does the CB-IR benefit those going into CPL & MEIR training significantly? One would assume the largest benefit if any would be a reduction in required hours and therefore, cost.

Any advice, tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks for reading,

SB91.
