Looking at getting my PPL
I'm trying to find out where I can get my ppl or how I can shorten the cost of it by sponsorships.
I'm civvy but I want it in order so that I stand a better chance at being accepted into BA's speed bird academy, I've met pretty much all the mandatory qualifications except being 18 and I'm just looking for stuff to make me more attractive to them.
Any advice on this is also appreciated thanks!

Try and get a flying scholarship as it will demonstrate both dedication and aptitude.
As long as you're 17 by June next year then you can apply for a PPL scholarship from the Honourable Company of Air Pilots. Applications usually open around January. See here: HCAP scholarships
The Air League is another provider of scholarships, from 3-hour flight experiences up to full PPL scholarships. Their 2026 scholarships open this December and you need to be 16 by 01 June 2026 to apply. See here: Air League Scholarships

Correction - I've just had a look and the Air League isn't offering full PPL scholarships for 2026, just 3-hour, 5-hour and 12-hour scholarships, which are still well worth applying for. Additionally, as bingofuel recommends, gliding can only add to your basic stick and rudder skills and the Air League gliding scholarships are also opening for applications this December. BA's Speedbird Academy recruitment team are all strong advocates of flying scholarships and so will no doubt look favourably on those who have bothered to apply for them. Applying for scholarships is also good practice in getting used to the application process that you will need to master as you progress your career, so don't be disheartened if you fail to gain a scholarship as the practice of applying alone is worth it. Good luck!

Okay thanks all, I didn't expect to receive all the support and advice but I'm grateful for it.
Yeah thanks jez d and bingofuel for the recommendation, I'm with the air cadets so luckily there are opportunities for me to go on air experience flights in the grob or in a glider.
I'll also have a look at the Air league gliding scholarships since that seems like a easier and also much more affordable option.
