ATPL Problem wind wind speeds ahead fronts

Hi, I found a following problem regarding wind speeds and fronts:

The GRADIENT wind is stronger around HIGH pressure systems, and weeker around LOW pressure systems.
For GEOSTROFIC wind it's stronger around LOW pressure systems and weeker around HIGH pressure area.

In my question bank there is stated that ahead warm as well as cold front pressure decreases, and wind speed increases, and after passing pressure is rising and wind weakens. So I've deducted that we are taking into consideration only geostrophic wind. Can someone explain me if I'm right and if yes why we don't take into consideration gradient wind? Because if we would take Gradient wind into consideration it should decrese before front as pressure is falling.
