Concerned Parent who had paid deposit
Hi, we are in the same boat, we have paid the deposit for our son to start in the coming months and feel very concerned about paying all this money upfront and LE not delivering the experience they promise. Wondering if we should cut our losses with the deposit and start again elsewhere, possibly modular. Previous reviews mention that there are better flight schools out there but don’t mention which schools? Which others are recommended in the UK other than Skyborne? Does anyone have any experience of Stapleford?

We looked at Skybourne, Aeros and school in Exeter as alternatives, but in the end we chose skyborne . I think the chance of getting a job will be higher with Skyborne than any of the others . Have to say though, we did really like Aeros Glos.

It's a real shame that their isn't a body that monitors these flight schools, with the amount of money involved it's frightening. Whichever school you choose there is the possibility that they could go bump, you just have to do your due diligence and cross your fingers! I have been to them all with my Son, he was offered a place at LE, but I couldn't justify the risk, sad because he loved it there! Skyborne seems to be the most promising, with most Airlines choosing them to train their future pilots, but then the concern is do they have the resources to cope! None of us on here are confident as to know what to do for the best, whichever route you choose I wish you all the best.

I'm currently a student at LEA, you're looking more at 3 years from start to finish. If the school doesn't go under but with the RAF coming they're likely to get priority so it could take longer.
