Stuck on next steps regarding training

Hi all

I was going for a PPL in my training plan around 6 years ago with aims to get to ATPL/CPL level, but due to time constraints and possibility of time running out and having to re do exams again the flying school I was at suggested I go for a LAPL and then get an upgrade to PPL, I got the LAPL around 6 years ago, due to working a full time job, covid, swapping flying schools etc, Iv'e got to a point where I feel a bit stuck in next steps to progress, Iv'e still got my LAPL and other passed a Class 1 medical last year, looking to upgrade to PPL fairly soon, Iv'e looked at integrated routes to ATPL level but the prices of the courses and at the age of 28 and the full time job, I'm not sure whether I'd find it hard to transition on to an integrated scheme at this point, I was thinking of getting the PPL upgrade and then going modular route either hour building in US or Europe. I'm interested to know if anyone at the same age or stage of their flying has felt the same way.

Thanks

The integrated/modular debate has been flogged to death on this forum with all those of vintage years & experience stating go modular for a number of reasons. If you or anybody is thinking of eventually going commercial then do a full PPL to start with. If you hold a PPL you would get very little credit if you were to switch to integrated. So get the PPL upgrade, re-validate your Class 1 and follow the relatively safety of the modular path where you control your rate of progress.

Your age is not a problem, seen many a student of similar age & older (both integrated & modular) go on to a successful flying career. If you fully FOCUS then you could be all done within a couple of years with a 30+ year career ahead of you. You shall find the ATPL theory be it distance learning or full-time the most time consuming & least motivating part. All the best.
