Why was the Naples thread closed?
The latest 'FO Naples Air Centre' topic was closed without any explanation.. .Was the moderators' reason the usual problem with them or what?
Be careful with your selection of title for your thread! 'Why was Naples Closed?' has connotations way beyond your intended point.. .Scroggs

Query,
Just wondering if you could have made the title of this thread a little different?
I know Danny and the moderators are trying to lower the traffic in the Wannabes Forum, so they have been locking a lot of threads.
I would like to ask the moderators when they lock a thread or lock and move a thread, put the reason why they are doing it. That way people who post here will learn and not make the mistake again.
The current way the forum is being managed by the moderators would be like a flight instructor's post flight briefing to a student consisting of only "You did not fly correctly" without any details.
Take Care,
Richard

Not me. I always put an explanation. Probably someone else moved it under the blatant advertising clause.

Wee Weasley Welshman,
I made sure I did not advertise in the thread. I even took the request for information to email so that my advertising material was not posted in the forum.
There were some good points made by GoneWest and Julian, but by closing the thread, Andy (TARNISH OPS) did not even get a chance to reply.
Take Care,
Richard

Richard,. .you're quite right about the need to limit bandwidth use on Wannabes. I closed the thread because the question had been fully answered and, as you acknowledged in your reply on that thread, it could have been seen by some as advertising.. .I'm sorry I didn't explain my reasoning at the time!

Dear Scroggs & Co.,. .Getting confused?- I am!. .You say that Naples could have been advertising, in the topic you closed, when all their postings conclude with their blatant promo.. .'Teaching the World's Future Pilots Since 1975'. .It was assumed that they paid you (PPRuNe) for that but, if not, why exactly did you close the topic? It seemed like another set-up but, in any case, how was it different from all the others on this forum?. .So, what are the rules?

hey Richard, since Naples Air Center gets such a darn good run on PPRuNe, why not pay for a banner advertisment?
The other banner advertisers get one hell of a slagging (Ryanair, OATS), NAC could corner the market in popular PPRuNe advertisers!!

Query. .You have a point, but on the other hand Richard's advice on this forum has usually been sensible, timely and unbiassed. He takes great care not to push his school over others here, although I accept that the byline might be a bit OTT.. .However, if being seen as a provider of good advice is advertising, perhaps we should encourage more of it!. .At the end of the day, it's our judgement call. Some calls are pretty close to the line, and will be controversial. Any instances of 'You cannot be serious' will be treated as all other appeals have been in the past!
And Richard DID rescue some Wannabes with burnt feathers from the SFT collapse. Which earnt him a little lattitude here.

Capt Gentil never seems overly pushy about his school either overtly or covertly. There are some contributors who will try to persuade you one way or another behind the mask of anonymity but Richard has never done that. Perhaps his byline could be amended to more accurately reflect the role of his school: "Teaching Some of the World's Future Pilots Since 1975."
