Flight Training in US but work in Europe
Hi Everyone!
I am an EU citizen starting college in the US this fall (non-aviation related). I still want to fly commercially, and want to aim for modular training first starting with my PPL with a local CFI. Yet, I don't have a green card so probably won't be able to work in US airlines. Do you think it will be easy to convert my CPL from FAA to EASA and apply for European airlines (in case I don't secure a green card until I graduate).
Thanks.

Simple yes. Easy no. He exams are much harder in Europe, but it's just a combination of time and effort.
I would suggest you get FAA Pvt and IR, then do the EASA exams. You can get an EASA CPL with 200 hours but you need 250 for an FAA Comm, so I suggest doing them in that order.
But first get an EASA class 1 medical.

Hi Avgeekstan. I was or are in the same position as you. I did the FAA way and got all the way to CFI with COM ME/SE IR and so on. It gave me a lot of flight time and an awesome experience but as you. I dont have greencard so Europe is the way. I should be done with the conversion process to EASA by October t his year. As rudestuff said it is possible but it is a complicated and long way, that requires a lot of research and is not for the faint of heard. If you want to know about my experience you are more than welcome to send me private message and we can connect.
Cheers!
