Post Job search tip

Test your telephone service.

This happened to me. I called my cellphone service provider to upgrade my service, as I was starting a job search. They did, but at the same time they accidentally removed the "no answer call transfer" feature from my service. For the last two weeks, if my cellphone was turned off or out of range, it did not forward to my home phone.

How did I discover this? I happened to leave the phone on at home, so when it rang I waited for it to transfer. It didn't transfer, so I picked up the cellphone.

Who was calling? A chief pilot. How many calls did I miss in the last two weeks? I'll never know. Aaaaaargh. It's like finding half a worm in an apple.

So if you depend on an answering machine, voice mail, cellphone, roommate or kid sister, to handle your telephone calls, TEST IT FREQUENTLY!

(No, I didn't get the job).
