LPC validity for additional MP Type Rating

Good Afternoon Guys and Gals,

I am after some insight into if I need to keep my current MP type rating valid in order to start a new type rating course.

My current MP type rating expires in October and I am due to start a new type in January, am I required to revalidate my current rating to start or can I start the course with a type rating expired by 2 months?

Why on earth would you need to keep your other type current? A first MP type doesn't even require valid MEIR any more. Just do the course and pass the test...

Thanks rudestuff, I was just looking to see if a valid IR was required to start the new course. Obviously don't want to shell out of my own pocket for no reason. Thank you for clarification, appreciate it.
