The Hippies of the sky

Due to an absolute lack of cash I can't afford the £2.5K'ish required to do a PPL abroad. I really want to get some flying under my belt, so I'm thinking perhaps gliding is the way to go.

Anyone out there know if you can get a UK license abroad and if so how much?
