Question advice

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could point me in the right. .direction.

I am a 27 yr old accountant who hates his job and has. .a newly found passion in flying.(10 hrs flying)

To get straight to the point I want to fly for a. .living.

I am aware of the current economic conditions for. .pilots etc etc.

What do you suggest the best way for me to proceed, if. .at all given my age etc.

1. Get a loan for 40K and go full time?

2. Continue to work part time and fly ie do my PPL,. .CPL. .ATPL?

3. Give up the whole idea as it is too late?

The disadvantage of no 2 is that it will take me much. .longer but financially it will be much easier but the. .question is how long will it take?

or do I take option 1 and go for the plunge but risk. .not being able to get employment given my age,. .experience etc.

ps if i ever do get a commercial pilots post, what is. .starting salary?

all words of wisdom will be much appreciated.

kind regards

Propilot 25

Are you already qualified, propilot? From what I hear of the grief of passing the Accountancy exams (two friends from university who went to PWC), then you've got good training for doing the ATPL's while you work. Not that you'll probably fancy doing that again - doing it once is pretty good going. It will certainly make things easier financially, and there's not exactly a need to hurry and get the CPL/IR at the moment.
