EASA vs UK CAA

Hi guys.

im looking to start my training to be a commercial pilot and I’m looking at different routes and different schools.

as a UK citizen who does not have the right to work in the EU I first thought that I should go for a UK CAA licence. However I’ve been told the EASA licence is more employable, and some companies will still higher me even if I don’t have the right to work in the EU. Further more the schools I’m looking at in the EU are a fair bit cheaper than those in the UK.

a dual licence would suit me down to the ground but the schools in the uk that run an inter grated dual programme are so expensive.

I would like to attend an inter grated school in Europe, gain an EASA licence, then return to the uk and do my theory exams again and my skill tests, therefore having both licences. Is this a good idea? And does anybody know how much roughly it would cost to just undergo the CAA exams and skill tests?

thanks

There are modular schools in the UK that offer dual licenses for the price of the additional skill test. ACS Flight Training and FTA are two that sprijg to mind, although I'm sure there are others.
