I wonder if any one out there in Pprune land has any idea if Jerez are going to start modular courses this summer.
I heard rumours and even got a questionaire from Jerez asking when I would be considering taking my CPL course, but I haven't heard zip since.
Come on Jerez what is happening? Us lower life form modular students want to fly in sunny spain too!

I spoke to Jerez not long ago and they said that they are waiting for CAA approval. They are hoping for the modular courses to be ready by end of April. If you speak to the CAA you will find that they give the same information, that Jerez is pending their O.K. to begin.. .I will be there on the 1st of March and if there is any news I will let you know.

Jerez (Southern Spain) is the location for BAE Systems Flight Training formerly of Prestwick (or Glasgow Prestwick if you're a Ryanair fan).
All the age limits can be found on the CAA website www.srg.caa.co.uk

Check the current issue of Flight International:
The ad for Jerez says that they will be starting modular at the end of May. Strangely enough, no prices quoted.
Mary Jo @ Jerez usually replies fairly quickly to emails, send her one at [email protected].
You might well find that the direct approach works better than asking for open replies through the wannabee forum

Found out they are only doing a modular CPL which includes 15 hrs in a Senecca instead of a complex single.
This reflects the price of nearly 16,000 Euros (about £10K) which does include full board and accomodation for the 6 week course, but still a very pricey CPL!!
Ps: Asked, but they won't do a complex single CPL!

Disappointing, very disappointing,
the expense is one problem £10k is too much,
Six weeks is the other big problem, the idea behind going to Jerez is reliable weather which in my mind equals best chance of getting course done in three weeks. Which in turn means taking less leave.
Looks like an UK FTO will be getting my dosh, shame though I fancied three weeks in Spain 'working'.

Okay,
I got my letter from Jerez today - 15,900 euros for the 25 hour CPL course!!
What are they on?? I cannot believe people will fall for this.
Six weeks for 25 hours, let me see that is 42 days for 25 hours! I hour every two days, in the Spanish climate.
Not to mention the tone of the letter 'in order to be considered for the course'.
Oh, and readers of Clive Hughes book will love this line - 'Payment must be made in full a minimum 30 days prior to the course'.
Disappointed Disappointed Disappointed
I really wanted to do my course in Jerez for the good weather and best chance of completing in minimum time, not to spend six weeks there and pay twice the going rate.
Jerez what are you up to?
I cannot believe that if anybody has chosen the modular route that they are going to be gulliable enough to fall for this.
Jerez, nice try, good joke, a little early for April 1st! Come on show us the proper CPL course prospectus.

One other question, if you have done all your ground study in the UK how can you complete the CPL in Spain?
I was under the impression (possibly mistaken) that once you started your study in one country you had to stay in that country to finish everything off. This question has also been raised in other threads, but as yet I havent seen a definitive answer.

Flypuppy,
You have to do both the flying and the ground studies at a FTO authorized by the same aviation authority. The school in Jerez is CAA/JAA so you can finish your CPL there if your theory was done in the UK. What you cannot do is switch to a school authorized by the DGAC, even if it is JAA. This info was given to me by the CAA a few months back.

Hi everyone,. .just got back from Jerez where I went to sit my (hopefully), last 5 exams. Spent five days there and got to see the school and mix with everyone.. .My personal opinion is that overall its a very good setup. I^ve certainly seen a lot worse!!. .The price that we have been quoted for the CPL also includes the Multi engine rating.. .5 hrs. Warrior. .15 hrs. Seneca. .5 hrs. F&Nav. Procedures TrainerII. .2.5 hrs. for skill test.. .The €15,900 also includes VAT, accomodation , all meals and skill test fees.. .It still works out very expensive and the time is a little long however clumsy and slow you are.. .On the plus side, for those of you who know him, Nick Ambrosi is now instructing there on the Seneca.. .I got the feeling that Bae is not worried about losing possible modular students because of the price or anything else. They are full up and seem to have students for the integrated course beating on their door. The modular course is just to fill up the school if they should need to.. .Nevertheless, if I could afford the extra money I would go there.. .There was a number of complaints from some students but they were admin. and organization type problems. Compared to most schools, nothing unusual. Remember that these are just my personal views after only 5 days.

MM,. .. .That's excellent news! Ambrosi at BAe, I'll definetly be going there next year then for the ME IR if he's teaching it! Guess I'll do the MCC there too. (That's if their not too busy with other studes).. .. .
