UK MEIR rating onto UK CPL based on EASA skills test

I have been training for both an EASA and UK MEIR at a UK ATO. I have previously been told that I would need to do two separate skills tests, one in UK and one in EASA airspace.

However, I am hearing rumours that others have recently been issued a UK MEIR onto their UK CPL based on their EASA skills test report. There is also a recent Internet blog from a pilot confirming this.

Has anyone had any experience to confirm this is the case or even better, has an email from the CAA confirming this is the case???

If this is the case, how did you apply or the rating, online or by paper or through the returners scheme?
