Wink PPLs abroad

I'm hoping to do my PPL course sometime this summer which will hopefully be the start of my way to becoming a commercial pilot. Does anybody know if there are any flying school in mainland europe which could accomodate flying training for a cheaper rate than in the UK as i am on a severly limited budget but am determined to start flying. I am quite fluent in French so any flying clubs known to give instruction there would be good to know of.

Also if anybody can recommend flying schools in the UK which are reasonable then it would be greatly appreciated. Thenks in advance,

AA

Why not do it in Florida instead. It takes 3 weeks, costs £3000 + Air fare to get there, and what ever you spend on food for 3 weeks. Everything else is included.

Thumbs up

Suggest you get hold of a recent edition of 'Pilot' magazine.

Loads of pages of ads, of loads of training in loads of countrys and they all(or the lowest priced ones do) have prices printed.

Before you make your final choice post a bull on 'Private Flying' PPRUNE Forum requesting any info on your chosen company before you part with your cash!.

The norm for Stateside is 21 day for JAR PPL @ approx £2800 inc accomodation usually in Florida all inc (loan of books/exams/GFT etc)

Defintely agree with Bar Box and Ickle Black Box - even if the price looks pretty close after considering flights and accommodation, a lot of people forget about the consistency - in other words you are very likely to finish in or close to the minimum flight times required under JAR but not in Europe - therefore the cost savings in the US are even more than initially thought.
