High Guys & Girls,
i would be really grateful if you could comment on this subject.
Just how 'brainy' do you need to be to pass the exams to get to ATP frozen? How hard are the exams?
I've heard that the range of information you need to know is vast, and theres no way of finding out how hard they are, or is there?
i recently went to RAF Cranwell to do the pilot aptitude test but it was more a test of co-ordination.
Before i spend loads of dosh on training I need to know whether i stand a chance of passing the exams!
i guest the best comparison would be to compare them to 'A' Levels.

Errrrr what i should have done is read all the previous emails before rushing to get my question in.

If you really want to be a pilot then you'll pass the exams.
The A.T.P.L. exams are not easy but I passed them. Never mind A levels, I have'nt even got an O'level, It's not that you have to be clever to pass the exams, it's the amount of information that you have to absorb.
You will pass the exams, but you will have to be dedicated and you'll have to spend a lot of time studying.
There's a lot to learn but you'll get there in the end if you're determined.

Yeah its not the complexity but the sheer volume of info.
Hence the reason most pilots are experts at mnemonics and funny obscene rhymes which aid recall.

NickM, If you go for a flying scholarship, the aptitude tests at Cranwell only cover the co-ordination stuff. If you do the full tests for Pilot/Nav it takes over 5 hours, the co-ordination stuff takes only about 5 minutes of it.
