Question clarification
Going through some question bank. A few questions, together with explanations
make me confused, I wonder if there is a mistake.
Question:
How did they get drift 5 STBD?

Question:
How did they get drift 5 STBD?
Because if you are heading 296(T) and are tracking 310(T), you are drifting to the right?
If your track is to the right of your heading, that is known as starboard drift.
If your track is to the left of your heading, that is known as port drift.
Or am I hopelessly out of date?

Both my 1975 E6-B2 and 1977 CRP-5 both give the correct answers above. Don't forget on both of the above problems you will NOT have to correct for drift (balancing/shuffling) as you have been given a heading (not track). After entering the wind DOWN place centre dot on TAS then turn to heading now (DON'T MOVE ANYTHING) where the pencil dot is the answer. Given your incorrect answer I reckon you have done exactly what I said as I get your incorrect answers if I thought this was a balancing problem. Note to previous you will have to change to high speed scale on E6B to get a drift of 14.
