Comair Aviation academy

Anyone had any dealings with this Florida(Sandford) based outfit

Looking to do a full time ATPL in S Africa or in the 'States

Had a call the other day saying they are now JAA certified and are affiliated with Atlantic Airways in Coventry for the IR rating. Also said they can include an FAA rating as well.

Would welcome any comments if anyone has had dealings with them.

Simon

I spoke to them recently. They have a scheme where you do the flying in the states and exams here. Aren't yet certified for IR yet in states so IR test here. Basically same as other structured modular routes, eg multiflight, stapleford. They caught my eye due to pictures of Daks and electras and DC-6's all over the place, obviously in atlantique colours. Turns out you don't get near them! They have a scheme where you get the JAA ATPL, do an FI course convert to FAA ATPL and instruct for them for 1000 hrs. They then say they will get you an interview over here. I was dubious for a couple of reasons.
1. Played too much on the atlantique angle. You neither get near their aircraft or are guaranteed a job with them.
2. I fail to see the point paying 18k to get a FAA licence. I may be wrong but i want to fly here.

You can stop at the JAA stage, however they push the whole package.

Any questions give me a mail

You are guarenteed an interview, unless you have the old green card, you have zero chance of being hired by the Airline. I was at Comair a whhile ago, got ground due to finacial reasons, although i had $12,000 on account. They would give me it back, until i got a lawyer involved.

Feel free to ask any Questions.
