ICAO -EASA conversion, can’t find answer on other threads!
Hi all.
I’m currently in the grueling process of converting a NZ CPL I/R to an EASA (1/4 way through exams ). My question is this;
I do understand that all ratings (I.e instrument rating) has to be current prior to undertaking the flying portion. I have kept my NZ SINGLE I/R current however my ME I/R has lapsed. I am looking at converting to a CPL ME I/R. Is it suffice for my Single I/R to be current and start the training ? As I understand it, having spoke to a pilot who done this a number of years ago it can be done...just wanting some up to date info as no training school has yet got back to me !
Thanks in advance.

I'm going through the same thing as you but just started the theory part.
I don't know in your case but in mine it was cheaper to get the MEIR renewed instead of converting the SE IR and then have to do a whole initial ME course (in Euros) and then the ME/IR. You don't need MEP but I haven't found an ATO that will sign you off on ME/IR without an entire MEP class rating done.
I renewed everything before the move so I have until March/2019 to finish the conversation, fingers crossed!
Good luck

South Sweden School of aeronautics. He gave a rough estimate for a EASA CPL SE/IR conversion + ME/IR for 100000sek. But said to add 50% to be on the safe side.
For a CPL ME/IR conversion Robert said other people have done it for around 50000sek.
Diamond flight academy deals with only MEIR conversion since they only have multi engine fleet is around 79000sek so either one of them it was cheaper to get my hours in and renew in Brazil.
The $$$ is a pain haha. My currency does not turn into a lot of €€€

Brilliant thanks for the info Hawker. Really appreciate it. Good to see (well not good!) that others are in the same boat. I better start clamping down the pennies and stop drinking them!
Thanks again mate -
