Job searching from abroad?

Is it possible to search for work in Europe while living abroad? I am a FAA licensed flight instructor working in the United States, and I am looking at converting FAA to JAA. Since I have a green card I can work in the United States indefinitely. Would I be better off staying here in the US gaining experience, or moving back to the UK to make the job hunt easier? Will companies even look at me if I am currently working in the US?

Also, is it even possible in the next year or so for someone with an ATPL and 1500 hours to get a job in Europe/UK?

Thanks.
