Personality Questionnaires for Pilots

Hi Guys & Gals,
I wonder if you could help me out here with some info. I have the BA Assessment for Trainee Pilot this month and the one thing that concerns me is the Personality Questionnaire. I have been reading a book on personality and how to put your best traits forward when completing a questionnaire for a job. The thing is that I've no idea what kind of personality BA look for in pilots. Does anybody have any info that could help me out?
Thanks in advance.

Once again a question posted a million times!
The summary of all the threads with the same question is be yourself, there's no way you can lie your way through it and there's no reason to. They won't pick up on an individual question and go 'Look what (s)he answered here'. They just place your results on a chart (i think there are five different categories) and see how well you fit.
If you are extreme at a category they might pick that up and ask something at the interviews. Was given a 'speech' by one of the examiners during my aptitutes and it went along the lines of..."we had one guy that scored extremely high in the risk-taking category and when he was asked about it in the interview, he said that his parents own a bungee jumping club" (or something like that). Don't know how much to believe of that..but..anyway!
There are 300 questions. There's no time for you to go back and check what you answered in a similar situation about 50 questions ago.
Just relax and answer truthfully.
Hope it helps.

Just answer the questions honestly. Don't try and 'be' any particular type of personality - you will be caught out by the test, and probably by the subsequent face-to-face interview as well. If you think you can cheat your way to a BA career, you're in the wrong field of endeavour...

hehe
Thanks for the quick reply lads.
I'm not talking about lying on the questionnaire or going back to re-check questions. But you know those questions where you look at a particular question and think to yourself "Hmmm, in some situations the answer would be true but in others it would be false". It would help if I had an idea of what they are trying to get at in those situations. I've read about the five different categories and it would be useful to know what dimension of each of the categories they prefer.
Anyway, sorry for bothering you with the same old questions. I don't post regularly here (as you can see from my number of posts!) and never thought of searching the archives.
Thanks for the help.

The point is it doesn't matter what they're trying to get at. There are too many questions to answer in a limited time to be able to sit and analyze any of them. Don't think about it, just tick the answer that feels right and move on. Unless you have some fairly extreme character defects, you'll be fine.

Me...again,
Just put down the first answer that comes to mind. It really doesn't make that much of a difference. My guess is that they don't want you to be in the extreme ends of the categories. E.g. if one of the categories is 'Team Player' (I've just made it up) you wouldn't want to end up on the negative side of that. I think they are looking for someone that "fit's in" i.e. your line would be better flat in the middle..not to negative or too positive ( cause I think they categories are such that any end of the extreme is queried) than fluctuating to the extremes of one category to the next!
Did that make sence to anyone else but me?
Oh yes..I agree with Scroggs too!

I was thinking about these tests - and it is always stated that airlines want someone stable and not willing to take risks. Yet how many guys have sold houses, taken huge loans etc.. without a guarantee of completing an integrated/modular course. Surely this is a massive gamble, even if you do complete the course, since there is still no guarantee of getting a job afterwards !! Don't mean to be awkward or pedantic (or pessimistic for that matter), just wondered if anyone else has pondered on this (in my mind anyway !) peculiar hypocrisy......
All the best......
(PS Do a search because I posted some Q's on these tests a couple of weeks ago, and it made an interesting read. Even if the Q has cropped up a million times....! sorry)

Why, Mike? Do you think you can practice having the 'right' personality? These exams only make sense to the odd folks that make them up. There is no point in doing lots of them; there are no right answers. All they attempt to achieve is to discover those with extremes of personality who most definately would not make aircrew (or anything else...). They do not make any prediction as to whether you can or will pass a course of training. It is just one more filter for the potential employer, and it's not worth worrying about because you can't influence it!
