What Ground School Provider to use for ATPL

Hi Guys,

Just putting out my feelers here.

I previously started (and didn't finish) ATPL ground school and am now looking to restart after multiple changes in personal circumstances...

Just wondering who people would suggest and if there are any schools to avoid.

I previously went with Bristol GS and was very impressed with them, however just wondering if there are any other opinions!

Personally speaking, Capt.GS and Bristol are both second to none. Phil or Alex should see you right. Good luck.

have you decided whether you will be studying at a ground school or distance learning?
if its the first have you thought about CAE Oxford..

I've contacted CAE, via email, no response, called and asked for a call back to discuss with a team member and am still waiting for the callback.... (2 months) was rather unimpresed... Maybe I've not been tenacious enough!?

I'm open to options (although not integrated/fulltime for longer than 6 months), but would most likely be distance learning due to current work commitments.

If you had previously started with BGS do you not have access to the modules? If so it might be worth staying with BGS unless the modules "expire".

Just given my current circumstances, I probably won't go with Bristol again, just because I would quite like smaller class sizes this time round... Thanks for the help guys

Cat3C have their ATO approval now and are looking to start in February 2018.

All fair points, I am active in the industry already and have had discussions with recruitment guys at the airline I work for. They've said that they do not select based on the school, (ATPL ground), so will base my decision on the quality of the material/the course layout/the quality of the instructors. I know Bristol tick a couple of the boxes there...

I'd suggest having a look at the website, but I think the layout (with 4 rather thant 2/3 sittings) could work in my favour... Just simply as I have probably one of the busiest summers I've ever had working and despite knowing my job pretty well, I think I'm likely to be tested....

The jury is still out and will make my decision in the next few days, but any further comments are encouraged.

I am keen to pursue smaller class size and as much flexibility as possible though, just given my own circumstances.

While Cat3c is a new ATO and from some well known names in the industry, let's not lose sight of the fact that nobody has actually completed their ATPL course.

Really? They're starting their first ATPL course in February 2018 and nobody has completed one with them yet...and here's me thinking time travel was possible

In fact, they've got many decades of experience within the team, have been delivering non-approved supplemental training for over three years with a very high success rate, and have gone into the approved training organisation market in response to customer demand.

In any case, time will tell.
