Italy/Italians.....and things.

Let me explain. I'm hoping one day to end up in Italy flying commercial, ideally Alitalia but any carrier will do. I have a JAA PPL (from the UK) and was wondering what was the best way to tackle this problem. Could any of the Italians (or anyone) please let me know how hard it is to get in, what is the current status of a few Airlines in terms or recruitment and what licences you need (by this I mean will a JAA ATPL done at Oxford do or will they giggle and ask me politely to leave).

I know Alitalia have a school down in Sardegna and was wondering if you did the course there, are the chances of getting in at Alitalia (or any Italian airline) greatly improved.

Oh yeah, I'm half Italian (fluent) with a British Passport.

You have to obtain at least the ATPL frozen.
There are no discriminations here and all companies hire foreign pilots with a type rating such as A320, B767, B757 etc.

Alitalia has a flying school, check on the website (alitalia.com)
