Cessna SET Training South Africa for EASA License

Hi

I'm interested in a Cessna Caravan (Cessna SET) Rating. As I hold a EASA license ("frozen ATPL") I think the easiest way is doing this in Europe. But I'm interested in doing it in South Africa and getting new experiences down there.

Is it possible to get this rating there and have it in my EASA license? Any experience? Any experience with other non-EASA countries?

Lots of Caravans around in Africa, but most (all?) countries require you to convert to local license.

Yes, that's one of the issues. But is it possible to get the Cessna SET Rating into a EASA License? Is there a must for a EASA syllabus or a EASA Examiner?

Pathi...to obtain an EASA CR/TR you need to take an easa course in an easa approved ATO. I don't think (but you could check in the easa website) that there're some approved ATO in Africa.

You can transfer your ICAO CR/TR on your EASA licence through a skill test with an approved CRE/TRE once you have 500hrs on class/type.
Hope that helps.

Thank you all. That clarifies. I checked on the EASA website. There are not many EASA ATO in Africa, and I wont do 500h down there. So I'll need to do it in a EASA country.
Any good experiences around?
