Cool Absolutely Ecstatic!

Done it! Bloody well did it 2 hours ago!

'Are you confident?' the examiner said.
'Yes, good lesson (glide approaches).Why?'

'Do another on your own. I'll be in the tower. See you in ten.'

Did it! Did it! Bloody well did it!

Thanks, guys. One bottle of Champers down, plus lots of wine. More to go!

Promised myself at 50 and did it.

Life is for living - and flying.

Arrow

Just had an e-mail from a guy who went solo: had to do a go-around, then when he finally landed, it shot off the runway to port. Wishes he'd had the bike clips on!

Waiting to hear the full story. Not a good day by the sound of it.

Thanks for all the encouragement so far.

Nice one matey!

I got bad news for you though, the RAF turned me down . Don't know why yet, but they promised a debrief.

Next stop cross countrys then! Good luck .

Red face

Yup, I went Solo yesterday and all was fine did nice greasers with my instructor before he got out. Did all my power checks took off went round the ciruit pattern..and established my self on final..then had to go around due other traffic on the runway that did not clear off in time..well that was cool but on my next approach I was fine with 8 knot wind landed slightly to the left and then took off towards the left !! I was scared as hell, So I did not have a great day!!..A few more practices and I shall try again!! Has this happen to anyone??

My instructor tell me that it could have pressed the left brake??

Advise Please

All in all Im fine with a shattered confidence.

Cool

Thanks, you guys. At 'my age' and I'm still on a high like a big kid!

TimC - from what I remember of you at the last gigantic shoulder room only and noisy Nottingham bash, you stood about six foot eleventeen. Heard at the weekend that the RAF may have a 5'10" height limit!

Jazzie - got your e-mail. As long as it counted. At least it's all part of the learning curve.

I thought you checked the hatches... no, I thought you had... oh, THAT'S why the door swung open!

The height limit is quite high for pilot/nav, its just the leg and arm lengths etc that most people fail on. I failed the medical for pilot/nav on my buttock-knee length by +1mm, someone else on my board failed coz her arms were too short. There was a lad there who passed the medical who was taller than me , but his legs weren't as long.

I'll tell you about it at the next notts bash .
