Question Do hours ever expire?

I am about to head off to the USA to do a 3 to 4 week JAA PPL course. However about 20 years ago, I managed to accumulate nearly 40 hours flying time with the RNZAF and a New Zealand areo club.

Therefore, do hours ever expire, and could I use the hours I have already towards my JAA PPL?

Any advice gratefully received..

Confused Kiwi...

Officially yes you could, however I in my experience there are very few people who can finish the course properly in less than 45 hrs, they are usually 17, fly 3 times a day and have passed RAF apitude tests and hence it's not too relevant.
