Cool Age limit for BA

I have recently been to the BA final board, and was unsuccessful. This was back in november. At the moment I am 26 years old but will be 27 in June 2001. Taking into account the BA rule about leaving it a year between applications I would have to reapply in November this year ie I'll be 27 and too old.
Has anyone ever managed to bend this rule or is it strictly enforced by BA? Is there any flexibility at all? Please let me know if you've managed it.

I think I may be clutching at straws here! Have I missed the boat as far as BA is concerned?
