FAA to JAA/EASA conversion and getting hired

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and trying to get as much information and advice possible before I commit to taking my next step in aviation. I'm interested in doing the FAA to JAA/EASA conversion in hopes of getting on with an airline in the EU such as Ryanair, Thomson, or Easyjet. I currently hold a PPL, CPL, IR, and ME with about 300hrs TT.
I've done my research as to what all it will take to make myself eligible for the airlines. Has anyone gone through this process recently and successfully been hired on with an airline? With Ryanair, how long does it take to pay back the cost of your TR? How difficult is it to live off your starting salary during that time you're paying that money back? Fortunately I am a young single male that is willing to move just about anywhere in the EU and will only have to support myself. Does anyone have any advice or personal experience doing this? I am open to any suggestions that will help me get to where I want to be. Thanks!
