Change non-UK CPL to a UK CAA issued CPL/MEIR
Hi guys
I am the holder of a non-UK issued EASA CPL ME/IR but I would like to "convert" it to a UK CAA license. Have somebody done this recently and could tell me what to do? I have heard that you can show up at Gatwick with your license and paperswork and they can issue a new UK EASA license straight away?! Have somebody done this and can confirm this is true?

The CAA will only accept applications from pilots whose medical records are held
in the UK. See CAP 804 Section 3 for guidance.

If you hold an Italian (or any other EASA member state) issued EASA Part-FCL CPL/MEIR you can change the State of Licence Issue (SOLI) but as has been already stated the SOLI can only be the member state which holds your medical records.
As such, you will need to transfer your records from the state already holding them to the UK.
You will therefore need to contact the country holding the records now and ask them for their procedures OR you can contact the UK CAA Medical Department and apply via them. I would talk to my own state medical department first.
What you 100% CANNOT do is simply turn up at the customer desk at Gatwick, drop your existing licence on the desk and change it for a UK issued licence.
I understand the Change of SOLI process takes about 2 months.
Hope that helps.
